Greatest Love Ever

Unconditional love cannot be found on earth, Well, maybe with our furry little canine companions. However, from a human standpoint, we will never find unconditional love in humankind. We can spend our whole life searching for it, but it’ll elude us every time. We might come close, but we’ll always fall short of finding it. However, there is great news for those who are searching for unconditional love. Love with no strings attached. In fact, you don’t have to do anything to earn unconditional love. Unconditional love is already in place and all it takes is for us to accept the love being offered. Sounds good, right? Well, let me tell you about it.

God loves us unconditionally. He always has and always will. God is madly in love with us. So much so that He sent His Son, Jesus into this world to suffer a gruesome death on a cross for us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God loves us that much. There is nothing we can do to change how much God loves us. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39-39). Sin drives a wedge between us and God, but it doesn’ stop Him from loving us. God’s love is what put Jesus on the cross. The crucifixion of Jesus was atonement for our sin, thus providing a path to reconcile with God.

It doesn’t matter what we’ve done or what we are doing. God loves us and wants us to come to HIm and experience His unconditional love. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus was more than a great teacher, He is our Savior, Redeemer. He is the one who provides the path back to a right relationship with God. “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Jesus died of the cross to demonstrate the love God has for us. This shows us that God will stop at nothing to provide His great love. No one on earth would intentionally die for a stranger. None of us would die for someone who did us wrong. However, that’s exactly what Jesus did. Jesus loves us that much. When we are doing our own thing, God loves us. It doesn’t mean He likes our behavior, but it doesn’t stop Him from loving us.

We can find unconditional love in Jesus. The cross of Jesus calls to all of us. It’s a beacon pointing us to God, where we can find the unconditional love we seek. The cross of Jesus sits high on a hill for all to see. The evidence of unconditional love. Jesus died and was resurrected three days later, and is not seated at the right hand of God. The cross of Jesus calls out to us all, “come to me.” It’s this unconditional love that redeemed and changed the life of this old alcoholic. Jesus’ unconditional love is life changing. No matter where you are in life, no matter what you’ve done, the unconditional love of Jesus is available. Will you accept and embrace this great love?
