God Hath Sent His Angel

“God hath sent HIs angel.” Let us cry
The words aloud when the storm abates,
Or when some threatened danger passes by,
Or pain be lifted, for the one who waits
Upon the Lord will find at last the white
Releasing Presence standing close, will see
An angel bent above him in the night
To strike his chains away and set him free.

God will send His angel. Heart, this hour
May seem like some dark dungeon of despair,
But locks and bars are useless when the power
Of angel hands is working for you there.
Look up and out beyond your prison bars -
There is a stir of wings among the stars!
